Your Lake County Halloween fun guide

Find your Halloween fix, from pets to planes and fun to frightening, now until Oct. 31.

Go on an actual ghost hunt with the Boo Crew in Leesburg Friday and Oct. 31.

Get lost and maze away at Lake Catherine Blueberries in Groveland, Scott’s Maze Adventures in Mount Dora and Jack’s Corn Maze in Clermont.

City festivals include the Boo Festival on Friday in Tavares, Spooktackular Friday in Wildwood, the Harvest Festival on Saturday in Clermont, the Boo Bash on Saturday in Leesburg, the Eustis Fall Festival on Saturday, Minneola Safe Night Out on Oct. 31 and Trunk or Treat on Oct. 31 in Umatilla.

Uncle Donald’s Farm in Lady Lake features hay rides and a pumpkin patch, Lake Louisa State Park in Clermont does Trunk or Treat on Saturday, Lake Square Mall has trick or treating Oct. 31 and the Haunted Trail and Creepy Carnival take over Dade Historical State Park in Bushnell on Friday and Saturday.

The Monster Splash Fly-in in Tavares on Saturday includes a pumpkin bomb drop and get into costume for the Spooktacular Halloween Dance Party Friday at Anastassia Ballroom in Leesburg.

Ghost Hunt Experience

See what might be haunting the walls and halls of Lake Square Mall in Leesburg at the Ghost Hunt Experience for ages 12 and older from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and Oct. 31. Join with the Boo Crew ghost hunters for an orientation talk and to try some ghost detecting apparatus. Then, go into the mall and seek out the spirits said to be haunting the 40-year old mall. Download ghost hunting apps on your smartphone before you go including Ghost Radar Classic, Ghost Sensor-EM4 Detector and Ghost Hunting Tools. Free.

Lake Catherine Mazes and Pumpkin Patch

Lake Catherine Blueberries is bringing fall fun to the farm weekends until Sunday with sun hemp mazes and a pumpkin patch. There are free tractor train and hayrides before dark. The Fall Maze, recommended for younger children, is $5 per person. The Lake Catherine Labyrinth for the more adventurous is $10 per person. These are the only mazes where flashlights are allowed after dark. The Catherine’s Revenge maze is $10 and the Dark Forest Trail of Terror is $15, which may be too intense for young children and sandals are not recommended.

Scott’s Maze Adventures

Get lost at Long and Scott Farms in Mount Dora in Scott’s Maze Adventures open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday through Dec. 9. The adventure features a seven-acre corn maze, jumping pillow, zip line and super slide. Be sure to visit the farmer’s market open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Jack’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch

Jack’s Corn Maze, 16813 Schofield Road in Clermont, with a 5.6-acre corn maze, is open Fridays from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Nov. 4. There are also pony rides, hay rides, a hay bale maze, face painting and pumpkin patch. Cost: $5 per vehicle.

Boo Festival

Have a Boo-tastic time at the annual Boo Festival from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Wooton Park in Tavares. Live entertainment includes Blonde Ambition, Dance Depot and a DJ. Join in for Monster Zumba or try out a hayride, carnival games and prizes, costume contest, giant inflatable corn maze, spooky storytelling, classic car show, big red bus and Monster House playing at city hall.

Spooktakular Friday

Wildwood’s version of Trunk or Treat, Spooktakular Friday, is 4:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Wildwood City Hall Courtyard, 100 N. Main St. Entertainment includes music by Humans in Disguise, food vendors, dessert vendors, games, face painting, photo booth and more. Local businesses will be decorating areas to earn a trophy and bragging rights. Guests may wear costumes if they wish and candy will be handed out throughout the courtyard. Free.

Clermont Harvest Festival

Celebrate the season at the Clermont Harvest Festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday on Montrose Street. More than 150 vendors will line the street along with a petting farm, train rides, a pop-up escape room and merchants staying open late. From 10 a.m. to noon there is a pumpkin decorating contest, noon to 5 p.m. a kids zone, at 5:30 p.m. a costume parade, 6 p.m. trunk or treat at First United Methodist Church and 7 p.m. a 5K Nightmare on the Clermont Trails Run.

Boo Bash

Kids of all ages will have fun at the Boo Bash from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday in Towne Square, 510 W. Main St. in Leesburg. Activities include a children’s costume contest, pumpkin decorating contest and more.

Trunk or Treat in Umatilla

Umatilla’s annual Trunk or Treat features a child-safe Halloween party from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 31 along Umatilla Boulevard. Kids can play in the spooky moon bounce, trunk or treat, apple grappling, fishing pond, pumpkin carving contest, costume contest, cake walk, corn hole, hot dogs and more.

Eustis Fall Festival

Fall means fun times at the Eustis Fall Festival from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday in Ferran Park. Events include a 4:30 p.m. costume contest, bounce houses, hay maze, pony rides, face and pumpkin painting and games.

10th annual Halloween Story Time and Parade

The Fruitland Park Library has a special story time and parade for preschool kids 10:30 a.m. Oct. 31. Kids can come in costume, sing, dance and read a story before the Halloween parade with trick-or-treating.

Minneola Safe Night Out

Minneola is having a Safe Night Out from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31 with free food, games, candy and more at the Minneola Trail Head Park, 315 Madison St. Bring a canned good or non-perishable food item to help those in need in our community.

Uncle Donald’s Farm Fall Fun Nights

Fall Farm Fun at Uncle Donald’s Farm in Lady Lake is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday and includes hayrides, pumpkin patch, hay maze and animals, plus fall fun night 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Trunk or Treat

Lake Louisa State Park, 7305 U.S. Highway 27 in Clermont, is hosting its third annual Trunk or Treat from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday including a costume contest, trunk decorating contest, prizes, games and photo booth.

Howl-o-ween

The Animal League’s 10th annual Howl-o-ween costume pet parade strolls through the downtown Clermont farmer’s market at noon Sunday. Costume winners will be selected in the categories of cutest, most unusual, funniest, best pet and owner and alumni. Cost: $20 per pet on site. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Proceeds benefit The Animal League.

Barktober Fest

Lake Square Mall in Leesburg is hosting a kid and canine friendly Barktober Fest from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday. There are costume contests for dogs and children 12 and younger for the funniest, scariest and most unique outfits. There are raffles and prizes, pumpkin painting, a doggie kissing booth and adoptable pets. The Leesburg Police Department will give out helpful tips for a safe Halloween and the Animal Medical Center of Eustis will give out information on how to protect furry family members during the holiday season.

Haunted Trail and Creepy Carnival

Who knows what you might see at the Dade Battlefield Historic State Park’s Haunted “Toxic Waste” Trail and Creepy Carnival from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 7200 County Road 603 in Bushnell. Cost: $3 per person, 6 and younger are free. Tickets for games, foods and crafts only 50-cents or 13 for $5.

Lake Square Trick or Treat

Go trick or treating at Lake Square Mall in Leesburg at 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. Key Scales Ford will have six new vehicles for trunk or treat. Candied apples and other fun Halloween treats will be available in the Center Court.

Monster Splash Fly-in

Pilots and planes will gather at Wooton Park in Tavares for the Moster Plash Fly-in from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Activities include fastest takeoff, pumpkin bomb drop, spot landing and accuracy landing with awards and prizes following.

Spooktacular Halloween Dance Party

Get your costumes and dancing shoes for a Spooktacular Halloween Dance Party at the Anastassia Ballroom, 32624 Blossom Lane in Leesburg at 7 p.m. Friday. Enjoy ghoulish brews, a costume contest and more dance festivities.
