The CALL held their Second Annual Fishing for the Call, one day fishing tournament Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Lead Hill Corps of Engineers Recreational Park in Diamond City on Bull Shoals Lake. The tournament was held in conjunction with the Lady Bass Anglers Association Championship tournament and Pond Hopper Nation’s “Teach a Kid to Fish” program. Activities for kids, food and the weigh-in sites for both The CALL and the Lady Bass Angers were on the water’s edge at the Sugarloaf Marina Harbor. Pond Hopper Nation gave several short fishing classes to kids throughout the day and for their participation children received a class participant certificate, a fishing pole and T-Shirt.
According to a CALL spokesman, there were more than 50 boats participating in tournament. Anglers fished from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weigh-in time.
Tournament winners include:
• Aaron Hodge and James Bailey — first place and Big Bass winners with 18.97 .lbs and Big Bass at 6.01 .lbs
• Shawn Williams and Shane Williams — second place winners with 18.61 .lbs
• Ryan Patterson and Keith Daffron — third place winners with 16.85 .lbs

“The CALL of Boone and Newton counties is committed to recruiting, training and supporting Christian families to fulfill their calling to minister to children in foster care,” said Carolyn Woehl recently when she spoke to the Harrison Lions Club. The CALL’s goal is to have an abundance of families prepared to take children into their homes so that children are no longer waiting for placement, no longer placed outside their county or no longer separated from siblings, she added.
In the past 10 years, The CALL has helped open more than 1,161 foster homes and 369 adoption homes. More than 501 children have been adopted by families supported by The CALL.
The CALL’s second annual tournament was made possible by its many sponsors and supporters of The CALL of Boone and Newton County.
