Lake of the Ozarks weekend fishing report -- October 26, 2018

The lake level was 658.0; generation around 18,000 CFS to 22,000 CFS during the week for a level of 658.3 by the weekend. Surface temperature at Bagnell Dam was 63 degrees. Truman Lake was at 711.4 level.

The lake level was 658.0; generation around 18,000 CFS to 22,000 CFS during the week for a level of 658.3 by the weekend.  Surface temperature at Bagnell Dam was 63 degrees. Truman Lake was at 711.4 level. 


TO NOTE


The Lower Osage is from the dam to the 22-mile mark; Mid-Lake is between the 22 and 38-mile marks; the Upper Osage is between the 38 and the Rt. 65 Bridge.


WALLEYE


No catches reported.


CRAPPIE


Lower Osage: Good on jigs and minnows 6 feet deep under docks or trolling crankbaits. Grand Glaize: Good on tube jigs and minnows in brush piles 5 to 6 feet deep over a depth of 19 feet. Gravois: Good shooting jigs under docks in the coves. Mid-Lake: Good on minnows or jigs around main lake docks and brush piles 8 to 20 feet deep. Niangua: Fair on minnows in brush piles 8 to 12 feet deep. Upper Osage: Good on blue ice jigs tipped with Berkley Crappie Nibbles 6 to 8 feet deep around docks. Truman Dam spillway: Fair on jigs and minnows in the old channel backwaters.


CATFISH


Lower Osage: Fair drifting skipjack shad. Gravois: Slow drifting cut shad in middle of creek coves. Mid-Lake: Good drifting cut shad in the middle of creek coves. Upper Osage: Excellent on cut shad, live bait and prepared baits. Truman Dam spillway: Fair on cut shad.


BLACK BASS


Ron Arbothnot and Tim Gallagher won the Dupo Marine Fall Classic last Saturday with five bass weighing 14.67 pounds. Lower Osage: Fair on spinnerbaits, swimbaits and topwater lures along secondary points. Grand Glaize: Good on shaky head worms 6 feet deep along points and rocky banks. Mid-Lake: Good on buzz baits, Whopper Ploppers and wake baits on points or shaky head worms and jigs along bluffs or shallow docks. Niangua: Fair on topwater baits, shaky head worms and spinnerbaits 3 to 10 feet deep along rocky banks.


WHITE AND HYBRID BASS


Grand Glaize: Good on inline spinners and small crankbaits in coves filled with shad. Gravois: Good on white Roostertails along wind-blown rocky points. Mid-Lake: Good on Chug Bugs or Roostertails in the back of creeks. Upper Osage: Good on Roostertails and topwater poppers with jig trailers along windy main and secondary points.
